Meet our Executive Director Lori Botkin!

Lori

Our Executive Director for the past 14 years, started here with the idea of having a “summer job” and hasn’t left yet!  A typical type “A” personality, Lori keeps bringing new things to the Flathead Food Bank and creating more for everyone!  With her great staff, she has grown the food bank from a 2 person operation to an 8 person staff, with over 400 volunteers annually, and a very successful thrift store that employs another 12 people!  Lori’s passions not only include helping people become stronger in their everyday lives, but she loves working with seniors, who she feels are the backbone of our community.  Her favorite job is delivering the commodity bags each month, and loves interacting and learning from their experiences. Of course, you can always get Lori to tell a stupid joke when you come into the office, and really – the only one that laughs at her jokes is her!!!

Lori grew up in Missoula, and as a U of M, Griz earned her degree in Music Education.  After graduating, she managed a Pizza Hut for 10 years, learning every day about the intricacies of different people.  Although she loved that job, it didn’t allow her any family time with her 2 girls, and she left there for a traditional 8-5 job, eventually making her way to the Flathead Food Bank.  Little did she know then that the Food Bank held the perfect job for her!  Her girls, Monica and Allison, grew up at the food bank, coming to work with mom often, helping customers, and learning about the needs of other people. They have grown into wonderful, caring adults who are both successful in their lives.  Mom is very proud of them.

Lori’s partner Donny Stevens has a trucking company, and she loves to travel the states in the “big truck” with him.  They also love spending a few weeks a winter in the warmth of the Las Vegas and Arizona sun.  Their hobby farm in Columbia Falls keeps them very busy and their joy, having all the Grandkids come play with them and ride the horses, chase the bunnies and just be amusing!  Lori loves racing the ’68 Camaros that Donny is so proud of, and they often spend evenings on the open road with their Hogs! Together they have created a really happy, fulfilling life!
